The Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) is an intermediate step in the engineering process to evaluate the technical and economic viability of a mining project. The pre-feasibility study is a critical step for project development as it represents the minimum prerequisite for conversion of a geologic resource into a reportable reserve.
The study of a mining project generally involves three stages, which are: the conceptual, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. However, in order to progress towards the last two phases, it is necessary to set a production schedule and its duration, among other variables, even though most information about the project might still be conjectural.
We take into consideration the technical and financial phases of a project for the preparation of a Feasibility Study. An estimate is made of all equipment, systems and energy requirements, a financial analysis is then prepared, including operating and capital costs. A Feasibility Study also gives detailed site logistics and transport requirements.
