Iron ore collectors used in the flotation processes can be broadly classified into two categories, such as anionic and cationic collectors. Long-chain fatty acids and their salts are mostly used as the anionic collectors for floating the iron minerals, while the cationic collectors, used in reverse flotation, mostly contain primary aliphatic ...

Flotation of Iron Ore: A Brief Review

This is why reverse anionic flotation of iron ore using oleic acid or its soaps is usually performed in a strongly alkaline environment (i.e., above pH 11). Fuerstenau and Cummins [28] concluded that, when oleate was used as collector, the suitable pH value was between 11 and 12 in the flotation of quartz.

CHAPTER-9 FROTH FLOTATION AND ITS APPLICATION …

For effective flotation, generally three types of flotation reagents are used. They are collectors, frothers, and modifiers. Table 1 lists flotation reagents commonly used in iron ore processing. In addition to surfactants, a number of inorganic compounds are included. These are either used as pH regulators (lime, soda ash, sulphuric acid,

Role of silica and alumina content in the flotation of iron ores

Indian low grade iron ores mostly contain quartz, gibbsite, and clay as the major impurities.Depending upon the ore characteristics, in many instances froth flotation has to be used to recover the hematite and other iron oxides from the ground ores. In this context, the difference in silica and alumina content in low grade iron ores is brought to …
